If you have heard the names GPU and CPU, then you might probably think about the difference between them. GPU is designed to perform task in a different way in which CPU does.
We can differentiate both on the basis of following aspects-
- Cores
You may heard words like dual-core, quad-core CPUs. But in case of GPUs, they use thousands of smaller cores to process the data in a parallel manner efficiently.
- Graphics processing capability
Most of CPU are designed to provide basic graphics to display only Power-point presentations, low-resolution videos and basic games. These types of CPUs have Intel’s integrated graphics controller like Intel HD graphics 5500.
But GPUs are made for the purpose of rendering very high resolution videos, 3-D games and 3-D images.
- Clock speed
GPU run at comparatively low speed than CPU.
NVIDIA (Geforce 1080) GPU – 1600 MHz
Intel (i7 8th generation) CPU- 3.2 GHz
These were the basic differences between CPU and GPU.
