Tile is a San Mateo, California based electronics company which manufacturers consumer electronics products.

Tile has it’s IoT based key finder device series which uses Bluetooth 4.0 for the connectivity. Basically tile key finder device work with your Android or iOS device to find or locate your lost keys with ease. After it’s launch in 2015, tile has sold over 4.5 million units by 2016.

Hardware Features:

  • Size of tile key finder is very small, 1.5 square inches.
  • Inbuilt battery that can run for over 1 year duration
  • Water proof hardware design
  • It has inbuilt Bluetooth Low Energy 4.0 chip (to communicate with other devices like your smartphone) which comes with 150 ft. Connectivity range

Functioning: As mentioned earlier, it uses Bluetooth connectivity for pairing. Let’s suppose you lost your key or camera or purse or anything else. By using mobile app you can ring this smart device which produces sound of 90 decibels of volume intensity which is enough to find where the device is?

But what will happen if you crossed this limit. Still can you locate it? Absolutely, because if the tile will come in contact within the range of other tile app activated device, it will send the messages regarding its location to the owner so that he/ she could find it.

Application: You can use it for daily life thing. One tile app account can connect up to 8 tile devices.

Specially useful if you are working where there is a lot of stuff in which your important things can get misplaced.

Conclusion: Overall good product. But I wouldn’t suggest for those who want to use it for daily use because this device will make your things forget easily since you will become dependent on it.

But you can use at places as I already mentioned where there are a lots of things like construction places, boutiques etc.

Bixi was introduced by the Bluemint labs (France). Bixi is an IoT (Internet of Things) based product that can be used to do things with just simple gesture or board movements.

Bixi is a gesture device that uses Bluetooth 4.1 Low Energy to communicate with other devices with a range of approx. 20 meters and has approx 1 month battery life.

Functioning: Bixi has different types of gestures such as Double tap, Wave up, Wave down, Raise/ Lower, Wave right, Wave left which can be used by the user to perform different task with just doing simple gestures.

Here is the list of few tasks that can be done by Bixi:

  • Play/ Pause music
  • Change music
  • Activate google or Alexa (on echo smart speakers)
  • Getting/ navigation directions
  • Open smart door
  • Take/ Rejecting calls
  • Turn off alarms
  • Send messages
  • Controlling connected cameras
  • Controlling lights and lot more others

Bixi gadget which uses gesture control technology is compatible with 100+ devices. Bixi also has an inbuilt microphone which means you give commands to your other devices like google home, smartphones etc. With it.

Application: Bixi is useful at the places where you can’t touch your phone like while doing cooking and other similar tasks etc. Because doing so can make your phone dirty. When driving because use of mobile phones are also not legal white driving and can cause severe accident.

Form 2 3-D printer is manufactured by the company called Formlabs (Massachusetts, U.S.) Form 2 is one of the most advance desktop 3-D printer.

Formlabs Form 2 3-D printers are the special purpose printers that use stereo-lithography to make 3-D objects like those which are in daily use like ceramic cups, plastics, toys etc. 3-D printer combines the thousands of tiny slices into one big object by gluing them with each other. So, as a result you get similar looking object.

Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)

We all have used Bluetooth for many times or may be using currently also to transfer the data from one device to the other. Bluetooth was invented by the telecom company Ericsson in 1994 for the transmission of data over short distances wirelessly.

Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 4.0 is not so new technology but implementing in today’s generation device at very large scale because of their advantages over classic Bluetooth.

Bluetooth Low Energy which formerly marked as Bluetooth Smart is a wireless personal area network technology whose standards are designed and marked by Special Internet Groups (SIG), which is a non-profit organisation which takes care of development and licensing of Bluetooth technologies to the manufacturers.

BLE is different in comparison with the classic Bluetooth in following ways:

  • BLE uses very low every as you could understand by its name for the same range of communication as classic Bluetooth
  • BLE however uses the same 2.4 GHz radio frequencies as the classic one, but uses different modulation techniques
  • It is used in very small size devices with small circuitry which also makes it cheap
  • Can operate for few or even years on a single button cell due to low energy consumption
  • Distance or range can be more than 100m (330 ft.)
