Difference between GPU and CPU

If you have heard the names GPU and CPU, then you might probably think about the difference between them. GPU is designed to perform task in a different way in which CPU does.

We can differentiate both on the basis of following aspects-

  • Cores

You may heard words like dual-core, quad-core CPUs. But in case of GPUs, they use thousands of smaller cores to process the data in a parallel manner efficiently.

  • Graphics processing capability

Most of CPU are designed to provide basic graphics to display only Power-point presentations, low-resolution videos and basic games. These types of CPUs have Intel’s integrated graphics controller like Intel HD graphics 5500.

But GPUs are made for the purpose of rendering very high resolution videos, 3-D games and 3-D images.

  • Clock speed

GPU run at comparatively low speed than CPU.

NVIDIA (Geforce 1080) GPU – 1600 MHz

Intel (i7 8th generation) CPU- 3.2 GHz

These were the basic differences between CPU and GPU.

What is GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) ?

Are you using a computer which can’t run 3-D image processing soft wares or high-end 3-D games?

Then I am 100% sure that your PC wouldn’t have a GPU. So, today in this post I am going to explain what are GPUs? and why they are used in computers and other devices?

Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) is an electronic circuit specially made to enhance the capability of computer to process the images at a very high rate and more efficiently.

Many gadgets where GPU is employed are

  • Gaming consoles like PSP, Play-stations etc.
  • Smart phones
  • PCs
  • Work stations (A single computer with multi-user Operating system)

But now the question arises how GPUs can do these tasks so efficiently?GPUs have few thousands of cores which work in parallel to render (to produce) images at very high rate.

First company to develop GPU was NVIDIA in 1999 and it was GeForce 256. Some specs of Geforce 256 are follows

  • It could process 10 million polygons or 17 millions triangle per second
  • It could do billions of calculations per second
  • It had 22 million transistors at that time (1999) which is marvelous

Best free softwares for different tasks 2017

This post is not to give you any new tech information, but it is about something that is very important to give advice to those who use cracked or pirated soft wares. There are two main reasons why I don’t prefer and like to use cracked soft wares. First you are wasting someone’s hard work and dedication that he put to develop the software. Second It will increase the risk of hacking your systems more easily by a hacker. Cracked soft wares also contains a lots of viruses and Trojans which can affect your system a lot in a log run.

OK, now most of the people will argue that we can’t afford the expensive soft wares. Fine, but believe me or not there are dozens of good open source soft wares that are not very less as compare to paid soft wares. What you just have to do is, google “the soft ware category you want end with free software” and hit enter. You will have to check one by one each software, but after sometime you will find a soft ware that will work good for you. I know this is tedious, but has its own advantages. Choice is yours……….
